Her uncle was a businessman outside of the country. Talks about how he migrated over and wasn"t really well known for what he was doing. It was harder for him to get a good job and respected. This is important because if you migrate, it could overall be harder (modern time=a lot of prejudice for the reasons for the migration) Shift between first part and second part of the book. She was always around people who were mature and now when she"s around people who aren"t, she has become the mature one. It was easier to get a passport. She"s exposed to things she"s not used to. She wanted him to take his virginity but nothing ever happens. Parents are more protective and worry about your well being. Grandparents are a little more relaxed and listen to what you have to say more. In the sheep" her uncle is executed.
