Components of self-concept: body image, role performance, personal identity, self-esteem. Mental image of physical self: ideal vs. perceived and actual body image, appearance and function of body, gradual vs. sudden body changes. Role performance: the actions a person takes and the behaviors demonstrated in fulfilling a role.
