Descriptive - basic and provides evidence that behavior is occurring but not why it is occuring. Correlational - two or more systematically measured variables in which a relationship can be assessed between the two. Correlation coefficient describes the strength of the relationship between the two variables so that one can be predicted from the other in either negative or positive correlation. Positive relationship means both variables go together in the same direction. Negative relationship means that the variables travel in opposite directions, either increasing or decreasing. Measured as a range from +1 to -1.
