Document Summary

Orbit = hollow are of facial skull where the eye sits. Sclera = external eye providing tough protective outer coverage. Uvea = middle layer of eye consisting of structures as the choroid, the ciliary body, and the iris. Retina = innermost layer that converts light waves into nerve impulses resulting in visual reception. Intraocular pressure = within the eye itself, and is needed to keep the eyeball in ated. Aqueous humor = clear uid similar to water found in the anterior chamber of the eye helping maintain pressure and nursing the core and lens with oxygen and nutrients. Canals of schlemn = located around perimeter of the iris and allow aqueous uid to train back into the blood stream. Meshwork located alone the canals regulate eye internal pressure, Choroid = layer of blood vessels located between retina and sclera that supplies blood to the retina. Growth of abnormal blood vessels = damage to macula > macular degeneration.
