Document Summary

Right atrial wall, inferior to opening of superior vena cava. Ap spreads to atria and to av node via internodal pathway. The sinoatrial (sa) node is located in the right atrial wall, inferior to the opening of the superior vena cava. It acts as the normal pacemaker of the heart, creating a sinus rhythm. The intrinsic rate is normally between 80 and 100 action potentials per minute (aps/min). In most healthy adults, the resting heart rate is around 75 aps / min due to parasympathetic control. This leads to a heart rate of about 75 beats per minute (bpm). The action potentials spread the atria and through to the atrioventricular (av) node via internodal pathway. With av bundle, connects atria and ventricles electrically. The atrioventricular (av) node is inferior to the interatrial septum above the tricuspid valve. With the av bundle the av node connects the atria and ventricles electrically.
