Process a general outgrowth of varying shape and size. Epicondyle process located proximal to an articulation. Line a smaller elevation or ridge. Trochanter a large irregularly shaped projection. Condyle a rounded convex projection which enters into a joint. Head a rounded extension projecting from a tapering neck that forms a joint. Ramus an armlike branch extending from the body of a bone and forms a joint. Appendicular: pectoral girdle, arm, hand, pelvic girdle, leg, foot. Functions: surrounds and protects the spinal column, attachment point for ribs and muscles. 33 vertebrae separated by intervertebral discs - cushioned pad made of ligaments and fibrocartilage that absorb shock and permit movement. Body round part, weight bearing; in contact with vertebral discs. Vertebral arch surrounds the spinal column laminae: pedicle, vertebral foramen. Processes transverse process: spinous process, superior articulating facets (interact with inferior facets from vertebrate above) inferior articulating facets. Intervertebral foramina space between two; passage of spinal nerves.
