The psi summarizes the interview findings, evaluates the offenders and often recommends a sentence: plays an important role in sentencing as judge balance between risk management and rehabilitation. Also plays a role in helping judge decide if plea agreement is appropriate: supervision-begins once an offender has been sentenced. The probation office establishes a relationship with the offender and defines the roles of the officer and offender. The officer and offender establish supervision goals to help the offender comply with conditions established by the court. One the basis of the offender response to supervision the officer decided how to terminate supervision (sentence has expired or revocation) Revocation and termination of probation: probation end when: Probation is revoked because of a new arrest or technical revocation: technical violation- pro(cid:271)atio(cid:374)er"s failure to a(cid:271)ide (cid:271)(cid:455) the rules a(cid:374)d (cid:272)o(cid:374)ditio(cid:374) of probation. May not be for behavior that is illegal: three stages of revocation.
