Acute pain is primary reason people seek medical attention. Relationship between environement and body is interpreted by peripheral sensory recepotrs and sends information to cns chart on pg 78. Gait control theory has a lot to do with the neocortical pathway. Paleocortical: biggest difference from neocortical is the emotional response different perception of pain. Descending pathway: things that come back down endogenous opiates. Going to have a synapse as progress through neurons. Sometimes these are the cases that are difficult to treat might need some. How are we inhibiting pain at this greater level? medication intervention theres no way to inhibit it without medication. Endogenous opiates come into play to try to inhibit pain.
