Recharge area - piezometers show downward movement of water. Discharge area - piezometers show upward movement of water out to surface into river/lake. Darcy"s law - relates the speed of water through a material to the head and permeability. Hydrogeologic units - classifications of saturated zones only. Non-artesian - pressure doesn"t push piezometer water over the water table. Artesian - high pressure pushes above water table. Flowing artesian - pressure so high it spews out of pipe top. Pumping wells - cone of depression where the water table is drawn down around the well. Drawdown - measurement of distance between original and new water table. Well interference - a shallow well dries up due to cone of depression of a nearby deeper well. Saltwater intrusion - deep saltwater or ocean water gets drawn up into fresh water. 2, oh- ph = - log[ h+ ] [h+][oh-]=1. 0x10-14.
