BIO 115 Lecture Notes - Lecture 32: Bronchiectasis, Asbestosis, Pneumonitis
Document Summary
Pathology of interstitial lung disease: outline a general diagnostic approach to interstitial lung diseases: patterns associations and pathology of each entity. Mks1b, 1d: describe each pathologic pattern and the causes of each one of them. Okay, so, the first and second learning objective say the same thing and the third was not really part of this lecture. I think it makes so much more sense to go by the pathology patterns like she did in the lecture so i"m going to answer the learning objectives for each finding together instead of jumping all over the place. Diffuse alveolar damage (dad) - acute process. Caused by acute injury from any cause (infection, drugs, collagen vascular disease, aspiration injury) If it"s idiopathic = acute interstitial pneumonia. Stain for bacteria/fungi/food to try and find a cause. May be a minor component of other diseases (hypersensitivity pneumonitis, nsip, collagen vascular disease) On ct, areas of dense consolidation (the white)
