Like young infancy, children battle different stages of development. Guilt: self-motivated for growth, or self-defeating for guilt. Self-understanding vs. understanding others: representation of the self, alongside emotional and physical characteristics. They can understand others, allowing themselves to take on their perspectives. More likely to believe people of nice demeanor than of rude demeanor. Can understand that people tell lies and the reason why people would tell lies. Can either end up socially sensitive or egocentric. Emotional control and expression develops alongside their parents" reactions. Children can understand emotions and some of the causes behind them by 5 7 years of age. Parents have an influence on emotional regulation, and can either be emotionally coaching, supporting their child"s growth, or emotionally dismissing, not speaking on negative emotions, encouraging stagnation. Children get their moral compass from their parents dismissive would not. Coaching should be encouraging and teach the children how to self-sooth, whereas. Emotional regulation allows for a better social life.
