Blacks accidentally shot by a police officer. Unconscious priming of black stereotypes activates the general black stereotype. People that wore weight suits described the person with more weight characteristic. People that were peddling fast on the stationary bike described elderly with more slow characteristic. Trying to suppress is an ineffective strategy. Elderly report wanting to suppress stereotypes more but use them more. Can lead to lower performance on cognitive task bc it uses energy. Trying to inhibit can lead to more expression later on: hiring a police officer study, those who chose a black guy initially were more likely to show prejudice in the 2nd part. Subcategorization: even when ppl meet ppl that disconfirm stereotypes, they create a subcategory for them. Ppl wearing gay and proud hats were discriminated in subtle ways like being served for less time. Take another person"s perspective story about an old man than those who were told to take their perspective.
