An animal"s fitness is measured by its reproductive success. Males would pursue many females, females infrequently and carefully choose a male. Men respond to physical appearance of women (age and health denote repro"d fitness) Women respond to economic and career achievements because these variables represent recourses they and their kids will need. Women value ambition, industriousness, and good earning capacity more than men did. Men valued physical attractiveness more than women did. Men prefer spouses who are younger than they are, women prefer around their own age. Top characteristics for both: warm/loving, honest, trustworthy, and who has a pleasant personality. Both women and men focus on physical attractiveness when it comes to having a short- term fling. When it comes to having a long-term relationship, both sexes focus less on looks and more on whether this person has desired qualities of a long-term mate.
