There"s a: essential carbon, amino acid, carboxyl group, side group. There is a special bond name when amino acids are added to the chain. This will be on the test: every amino acid is important. A change in an amino acid can affect protein configuration and cause a malfunction of the protein. Sickle cell anemia is due to a mutation that lead to a different amino acid in position 6 of the protein.
