Theories can be developed and evaluated 3 ways: Logical, conceptual, or empirical comparison of two or more theories to determine which offers the better or best explanation. Similar variables between social bonding theory and social learning theory. Interaction with peers leads to law-abiding interactions or delinquent behavior. Cullen and colvin: social support and coercion. Elliot"s integrative model of strain, bonding, and learning. These 3 lead to higher crime rates for lower class. As you go through life, your influences dictate how you will be criminally. Shows what life choices lead to where you are now. Different variables leading to the same prediction. Some empirical support, but also there isn"t some support. A lot of them are talking about life experiences. After school programs to help students get better at school. Maybe a different after school program that gives kids places to go to stay out of trouble.
