Document Summary

Leaving it all behind 2: paint and glass. Last time we had begun looking at trace evidence, and we focused on fibers. Every once in awhile the fiber is going to get torn or frayed in a very unique way. That fiber then at a microscopic level should be able to be lined up with the other piece perfectly, like a puzzle piece. We turn to 2 other types of man-made trace: paint and glass. Along the way we will continue to see that paint and glass can help to inform, primarily as exclusionary evidence. Polymer = long, sequential chain of monomers;group of chemicals that are repeated in a chain. Some pigment (to give it it"s color) mixed with monomers (adhesive to bond the pigments together) and the binder keeps it suspended in the can. Top layer dries out and you have a crusty cover when you leave the lid off.
