From the moment it is created, it is seen as a threat to national security. Broader rights revolution: criminal defendants, atheists, women, gays. A school cannot support the teaching of the bible; students could arrange their own bible studies, though. Nonreligious people did not want to hear the teachings of the bible. Homosexuals did not want to be segregated in housing. Women: control of fertility; abortion legal until the second trimester. The last armed conflict of the cold war era. The vietnam war is the natural conclusion to containment. Half a million men were fighting in vietnam.
