The rich controlled 2/3 of the wealth. Average industrial worker made 75 pounds a year. Middle class and above wore the suite: class, rationing, and consumption. At beginning of war, their was an egg shortage. Wheat (us and canada), eggs (russia), etc. Goes disproportionally to the male of head of household. Dad served himself first, what"s left goes to the others. Because of social structure, men are suppose to be working, dad"s wages. In 1914, nutrition, 3 basic types, fats, protein, carbs are highest, fathers are the bread winner.
