Developing: using the term developing countries is more politically correct. Implies that one day they can become a developed country: creates an issue where only some countries in the third world are developing, there"s a tremendous amount of diversity. Better option: income categories: middle income countries, between ,000 and ,000 per capita gdp, historically less developed, but have seen recent and often historic rapid growth and industrialization, some more comparable to developed democracies. Lower income countries: less than ,000 per capita gdp, many have seen stagnate or declining growth in recent years. Similarities between developing countries cont"d: almost all of these states have lower levels of economic development, state autonomy / capacity, and levels of political freedom in comparison to the west.
