Our society idealizes motherhood as total self-sacrifice, all giving nurturance, and uniformly positive but that is rarely the case. Are(cid:374)"t (cid:455)ou just the cutest thing: common physical features that may prime adults to respond warmly, ratio of head to body, contours of forehead relative to the face, eye size, nose contours. Anticipating babies: women are happiest, when they have a choice, when they have support, adequate resources, birth of child is a highly emotional event that can include guilt, anxiety and depression. Includes debilitating: sadness, lack of energy, trouble concentrating, feelings of worthlessness. Some basic skills: sensitivity to motion and contrast, organized reflexes and senses. Core knowledge: distinguishing animate and inanimate objects: social agents, can move on their own, can change direction on their own without outside influence, can be influences from afar. Inanimate objects: require outside force to move, can change direction using only an outside force, have immediate causal reactions only.
