ANA 407 Lecture Notes - Lecture 25: Superior Orbital Fissure, Visual Field, Pupillary Response
Document Summary
List in sequence, the six levels of the neuraxis, and consider the peripheral nerves associated with each level. neuraxis refers to the full craniocaudal extent of the central nervous system (cns). As usually described, the neuraxis is divided into six parts, which from cranial to caudal are the: a. b. c. d. e. f. Discuss aspects of the function and peripheral courses of the cranial. I) - fibers of this nerve pass through the cribriform plate of the ethmoid. Ii) - passes from the retina posteriorly through the orbit, exiting through the optic canal. An important occurs at the optic chiasma, such that reorientation of fibers the optic tracts are responsible for sight toward the contralateral side in each eye. Damage to the fibers results in various anopsias (visual field deficits). Iii) - passes through the cavernous sinus and then into the orbit via the superior orbital fissure.
