Control of accelerated ventricular rates, irregular rhythms, and management of co- morbidities (e. g cad: angiotensin-converting enzyme (ace) inhibitors (designed to reduce bp and decrease myocardial vo2, b-adrenergic blockers, calcium blockers, vasodilators. Rate-responsive pacemakers can inc rate in response to inc activity. Inappropriate shocks in ~ 15% of individuals with icd. Take prescribed meds at least 3 hrs before testing. Device (upper?) should be identified before testing. Terminate test before hr is within time of the anti-tachycardia of defibrillation threshold.
