Public"s health is now a government concern: beginning now, resurgence of infectious disease previously thought to be under control. First appeared in nyc in summer or 1999. Spread throughout the us w peak cases / mortality 2006. Attack disease from different angles to try to manage it. Represents one of the greatest threats to world-wide health. Changes in sexual habits: social expectations, later marriage age, multiple marriages, etc. Marriage later, sex w/ more partners is now common.
