Steady flow of slaves from conquest/expansion to other civilization. Manumission - muslims encouraged to free their slaves. Men = longshoremen , oarsmen , construction, workshops, mines, solders. Slavery not based on race, but on geography and religion. If slave converts, he or she becomes free.
