But don"t worry, it"ll be 140 million years before the time in a day is increased to 25 hours. Earth was once thought to be the center of the universe. Ancient people thought that because the sun and other planets moved relative to their own viewpoints, that the earth was in fact static and all the other planets and the sun orbited it in circular paths. Copernicus postulated that the sun was in fact the center of the universe and everything orbited around it. This was also incorrect as the sun is not the center of anything. It is just one star in our vast milky way galaxy. The magnetic field shields us from harmful solar radiation.
