CPSS 225 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Reinforcement
Document Summary
My daughter has oftentimes screamed, kicked, bit and scratched to get her way. Unfortunately this behavior got worse before it got better, i"m sure because we gave into her tantrum-demands many times. I started to realize we were letting her make the decisions because we were intimidated by her rages. Funny to say this about a 4-year-old but i"m sure i"ve seen worse. When the behaviors started to occur over seriously piddling issues, like a pancake being too brown, it was too glaring to pretend to ourselves that we were doing anything other than kowtowing to the dominant personality. It was upsetting, and when in a public place, of course super embarrassing. You never want to be *that* parent, getting browbeaten and assaulted at 80 decibels by this raging little goon. But most acutely, i felt that i was failing her in a way.
