Byrd stadium has been a part of the university of maryland campus for decades and it is time for change. Although many students may not realize how controversial byrd stadium might be, in order to take a stance against racism, byrd stadium needs to be renamed. Diamondback harry byrd"s administration not only barred thurgood marshall from attending the all-white university of maryland school of law, but as president harry byrd also tried to block donald murray, who was black, from entering the school in 1935. Donald murray was only allowed admission into the law school after he sued. This was not a singularity and denying students opportunities because of race was a common theme for harry byrd. As you can see, he discriminated against these students and did not let them into the university of maryland by offering up the facts that they would be discriminated against once in the school.
