Willard"s speech: women are inherently more moral than men. Home protection -willard said that women would bring the private sphere of the home into the public. Without education, women have learned how to sew, cook, take care of home/children, etc. How are women supposed to interpret join, pain or tragedy if they haven"t had an education. Women felt discriminated against in new left politics. Women very involved with anti-war & civil rights movements. Bra burning -burning bras, cooking utensils & other items during a protest doing performative things during protests is outward of the left movement. African american women gather in philadelphia in 1997. Felt oppressed, women who didn"t have good jobs, felt oppressed by mainstream groups. To stress the disparities between white women and black women. Hoped the march would counteract the negative images of african american women in popular culture and media. Most articles mentioned the million man march and how it contrasted.
