Tuesday february 14th (pre)#occupied: the origin of the occupy movement. Kalle lasn and adbusters: economic uncertainty/unease (tapped into it, radical organization, news/media outlet, goal was to overthrow capitalism, radical movement. Believed capitalism, intrinsically at its core, is bad for society. Highlight inconsistencies, ironies that can induce epiphanies in the audience that wouldn"t be reachable through traditional/rational argument. Introducing noise into the system through sabotage/interruption or intensification/pranking. Famous poster for occupy: (cid:498)what is our one demand? (cid:499) with a ballerina on top of a bull statue that is symbolic of wall street, has a background of protestors wearing gas masks and clouded with tear gas #occupywallstreet. This was a part of the early movement, consisted of radical grad students. Repurposed in 2005 to represent the anti-government sentiment in the aftermath of the iraq invasion that was critiqued heavily by the public. All of this was packaged and sold to us in fear appeals, iraq will bomb us if we keeping waiting.
