You"ve changed the meaning of what is good and bad ice cream and how it impacts your environment. Developed by sutherland against social disorganization (social class) Based on idea that behaviors are learned and learned by interacting with other people. We learn how to behave (techniques), and why we engage in this behavior (motives, drives, rationalizations, attitudes) Directions of those motives are learned from definitions of the legal code as favorable/unfavorable. Ex. helping other people in need is favorable, shoplifting is unfavorable. Delinquency coms from an excess of definitions favorable to violation of law. Associations with people you care about vary by frequency, duration, priority, and intensity. Aker saying conforming behaviors aren"t as impactful as say, burglarizing a house, this reinforcement is far more important.
