Latin america, asia, and africa were sources of raw goods (export), as well as a market for manufactured goods (import) These continents were viewed as charity by colonizers. 1800 - 1870: industrialization, higher productivity of factories singled out farmers, 1880s: spread to asia, africa, latin america, indigenous defeated. 1871 - 1914: age of progress , decrease in death, increase in food and transport, however there was still poor health and poor living conditions. Acculturation: process of adopting practices, traditions, identity of a new community post migration.
