Forensic human service providers often encounter violence or rather its consequences in their daily work. While the word forensic may bring to mind csi or ncis, in fact forensic just means that the work is related to criminal justice settings. Spouses, partners, and children: around 30% of married heterosexual couples in the us experience violence at least once, up to 2 million women are severely assaulted by their male partners annually. Absolutely not, occurs in same sex couples as well. In 1979, psychologist lenore walker first described a pattern of violence that recurred again and again in couples she observed. Then, third, a period of regret and reconciliation took place, in which the abusive partner brought the other one flowers, or treated the partner with special concern and may have promised not to abuse again. But this period eventually or soon ended, and the tension began to build up again, culminating in another violent episode.
