The u. s. census is focused on geography or location, which makes sense because the census is about counting how many people there are in the u. s. , who they live with, and where they live. Your textbook on the other hand, goes further by looking at not just geography, but also demographics and functionality. We already know that geographically means the region, or area, that a person lives in.
