Abner doubleday invented the sport of baseball as he improved a game of town-hall by diagramming a baseball field and basic rules. Long history of bat and ball-games, going back to sekerhemat, a game played in ancient egypt. There were several regional variation of the bat and ball games played in the american colonies and antebellum america. In the 1840"s, new york was crowded and polluted, there were lot of places for young men to go and have fun. Alexander cartwright and his friends helped establish the knickerbocker base ball club in. They wanted to engage in other activities different from going to taverns, so in 1845, Alexander cartwright led a committee to write the rules for a more adult game. Organisations sought to make the sport more challenging and manly so as to distinguish it from boyish games. It was a trial and error process involved in establishing and distinguishing it from a child"s game.
