Behavior mapping technique, as discussed in lecture and seen in william whyte"s film and book the social life of small urban spaces. The main principles are as follows: seating, street view, sun, water, trees, triangulation, follow the procedure below to map observed behavior in the plaza for 25 minutes: As a group: break into groups of around 5-6 people, divide the space into smaller subspaces and assign a person from your team to each subspace. Attach a small arrow to a solid dot, indicating the direction of movement. Record the age, gender, and activity of each person. If the number in any subspace is far too many to record all at once, make an intelligent estimate and record.
