Biopsychological approach:considers combination of biological, psychological and social factors in development of disorders. Any pattern of emotions or thoughts in apprate to situations and leading to personal distress or the inability to achieve important goals. Dsm 5- classify disorders and describe symptoms. Prognosis: what the outcome of the disorder is. Unhappy for two weeks for no cause. Loss of interest in family, friends and activities. Chronic depression that is insufficient in severity for diagnosis. Depression all of the time but not many symptoms present. Seeing indicials as humans and not defined by disorders. Labels can negatively affect the way we see people. Until 1800s we thought it was due to movement of stars or outer spirits. Treatments involved drilling teeth, castration, holes in skull, removing intestines, transfusions of animal blood and more. Treatment needs to be diagnosed on the basis of symptoms and cured through therapy and treatment.
