Psychology- the science of understanding affect, behavior, cognition variables. Cant see it, so some people don"t think it is a science- conceptual. Scientific method can be applied- so science. Affect- has to do with feelings: emotions, mood. Cognition- processing information: thoughts, memory, attention, judgment. General theoretically theories: socio-biological/ bio social/ evolutionary theory. Thought and behavior can be inherited (or mutated) Fittest survive and reproduce- reason why people do things. Much of what exists was/ is adaptive: social learning/ learning theory/ behaviorism- Organism are designed to seek pleasure and avoid pain. Behavior determined by experience with outcome- your own experience (some species can learn by observation) Recognition- able to recognize something that is there. Recall- pull it out of brain: easier when it is amongst different things, one at a time is better, multiple choice, easier when it is amongst similar things, need motivation, from scratch, short answer.
