All of the participants had to do a boring task- given a tray with dozens of spools of bread, had to take off the bread and put them back on with one hand for 15 minutes. Second boring task: rotate each piece of bread. Afterwards, told the participant they had to be the research assistant and would pay them. Told them it was important to tell the next participant it was interesting (they had to lie: paid some of these participants and the other group . Dependent variable question: how much did you like the spool of bread task: group paid liked the task more.
