Freudian and sociobiological theories: these theories came about because gender differences were being observed in different societies. Both theories assumed these gender differences were inherent and normal which means these theories were not heavily researched or adequately tested and are still difficult to test. Despite those issues, these theories permitted society and are still very well known today. Both of these theories say that there is a biological basis to gender difference and any deviation from masculinity from a man or femininity for a woman was considered problematic. Sigmund freud"s theory: the male sex organ which then leads to penis envy for the rest of their lives. Penis envy little girls notice penises and recognize the superiority of. Boys and girls develop similarly until ages 3-6. Phallic stage (3-6) pleasure through genitals and this stage is when children learn morality.
