Inhibitory control: need to be able to suppress own language. Language: the language to express belief states is syntactically very complicated. Executive function and language skills are necessary for the acquisition of theory of mind concepts (but not sufficient) Still offers important perspective on theory of mind development. Children develop theory of mind through interaction and feedback from those around them. Evidence the following groups pass false belief tasks earlier: Children whose mothers talk a lot about others" mental lives (think, believe) Kids who engage in more pretend play. Children grasp language everywhere universally, they learn it easily. Animals are being taught to communicate with language, they are never able to reach the level of language that humans will.
