Law should be informed by ethics, but not all laws are ethical. Civil private property/corporations business law is civil usually dealing with money. State v. individual / corporation for a crime/felony. What can you do with rights if not respected? nothing. Applies to all 50 states + us territories. Has limited powers (look up gonzalez v. raich in california) Health care went from state to federal because it affects interstate commerce so federal government now regulates it (obamacare) Law as passed by senate and house of representatives. State can go beyond and give you more rights/protection, but cannot give you less. Written in fl rights, but not in us constitution. No one is above the us constitution so it is at the top of the pyramid. Us statutes arrangement of all laws enacted by congress no discrimination in housing/hiring etc. Civil state code, but follows us fed gov.
