The rocks: rocks are a mixture of minerals & have 3 large families. Igneous rocks formed from solidification of magma: sedimentary rocks formed from sedimentation of materials transported in solution (precipitated) or suspension, metamorphic rocks formed by the alteration of preexisting sedimentary or igneous rocks in response to increased pressure & temperature. Igneous rocks dominate the crust, ~95: sediments & sedimentary rocks key at earth"s surface. Intrusive igneous rock magma cools within existing rocks in earth"s crust (beneath the surface) >coarse crystalline rock = phanerite: extrusive igneous rock when magma cools on earth"s surface, extruded out of the. Increase heat can happen at places like mid-ocean ridge: lower rock melting temperature bring things like water or co2 into magma to do this. It is thin & runny, and lots of lava flows like those in hawaii are produced. Fuji volcano, which is part of andesite line of volcanoes seen behind the subduction zone: most volcanoes in japan are andesitic.
