Perception: how we organize what we see from the environment. We act the way our perception tell us to. Impression management: when we try to change our employees perception. The external dimensions you can have some control over those things. Some peoples have stronger identities as others. ex. Stereotypes (the perception) and prejudice (the attitude) prevent individuals who would be capable, committed workers from being hired (access discrimination), and/or enjoying the same benefits of employment (treatment discrimination). Stereotypes: a widely held belief but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular person or thing. Perceptual biases of raters affect the accuracy of interviewers" judgments of applicants. Self-fulfilling prophecy (pygmalion effect): the lower or higher performance of employees reflects preconceived expectations about employee capabilities.
