Women & work: types of work, housework vs. Doing all the housework can lead to problems such as dependency, unable to be autonomous, less education, less money, etc: formal vs. ), street vending: informal work is much more widespread in developing world, women tend to be overrepresented in informal sector, especially because it can be more flexible or they are feminized positions or unskilled ix. 40% of women employment in formal sector is from agriculture xii. Young girls will go to special towns just for manufacturing (export processing) and those towns are mostly women xiii. This kind of work is mostly done by women because it"s cheap labor & companies can get away with paying them less & for these women anything is better than nothing xiv. Also women more submissive & easier to control, have better fine motor skills xv. The autonomy can be good for women, empowering, but also drawbacks xvi.
