Takings clause- right to be protected from taking property. Sentenced to 6 months in prison and fine. Did not have a jury trial, appealed in louisiana and to supreme court and lost/turned down. Natural rights: natural rights people were born with, life, liberty, or property. Attorneys arguing he had a right to a trial by jury (in 6th amendment)
