Document Summary
Acquisition training: as the behavior is being acquired. Extinction training: not reinforcing the behavior, so behavior is lost. Spontaneous acquisition: suddenly, after period of extinction of behavior, the same stimulus reproduces the behavior. Generalization: applying learning from one situation to another similar situation. Discrimination: situation is different enough that we do not generalize. If you are training animal, and you don"t know about their vision/hearing etc Hearing test=trying to discriminate between sound vs no sound. Phobias believed to be irrational sensitization/irrational fear. Systematically desensitize the person/change what they associate their feared object with. Form a negative association with the bad habit. Ex: smoker forced to overdose on cigarettes=now cigarettes associated with nausea not pleasure. Therapy must deal with getting off drug and changing the other things you associate with it. Ex: marijuana also associated with clothes, people, music, etc . Law of effect: any behavior followed by reward is more likely to occur in the future.
