You can have a social interaction on a cellphone with a musical artist without ever meeting them. Reading a book and being moved to tears is having a social interaction between you and the author. Attitudes = beliefs or opinions about anything. (the abc model) Affect (good mood = positive affect and bad mood = negative affect) i feel strongly about. I love apples = positive affect this, i really hate this = strong positive affect/strong negative affect. The thought must be conscious that is, unconscious thoughts do not constitute an attitude. Having an attitude/belief does not necessarily correspond to behavior. You can have a strong belief in democratic principles but not vote for democrats. Persuasion = attitude change (purpose of education, not to brainwash)
