Definition of psychology the scientific study of mind and behavior. Psychology is a science because it uses the scientific method. It is not about the topic but rather the process of investigation. This is why astrology is not a science because it does not use the scientific method. The mind is the product of a healthy brain. Brain is the physical storage for your mind. There was a time when body and mind are not connected. Mind is like a light from a flashlight, the brain is like the batteries in the flashlight. As a result, in order to understand behavior you need to understand the mind. Freud is not the most scientific of psychologists. Prior to freud it was believed that humans were rational beings and animals were irrational. However this is not so most of human behavior is motivated by unconscious forces that we have no control over.
