Causes of aggression: techniques for studying aggression. Make two people in separate room angry at each other. Give the subject a shock machine that allegedly delivers shock to person in another room. Also showed how easily aggression could be produced when given an order. Displaced aggression penderson et al 2000. Anagrams may be easy, difficult, or even impossible. In this study, there were very difficult anagrams that had to be solved while loud and distracting music was being played and experimenters were being rude. Trigger: experimenter says you did not do very well or something similar. Participants were either provoked or not provoked. In the absence of provocation, a mild triggering event did not lead to high level of aggression. After provocation and a mild triggering event, there was a high level of aggression. Person drives to airport, almost gets into accident from traffic. At airport, someone makes line very long at security.
