Personality disorder: an enduring, rigid pattern of inner experience and outward behavior that repeatedly impairs an individuals sense of self, emotional experiences, goals capacity for empathy, and/or capacity for intimacy. Odd personality disorders: paranoid personality disorder: a personality disorder marked by a pattern of distrust and suspiciousness of others. Find hidden meanings that are usually belittling or threatening. Therapy has limited effects: schizoid personality disorder: a personality disorder characterized by persistent avoidance of social relationships and little expression of emotion. Don"t have close ties with other people. Genuinely prefer to be alone, that is why they avoid other people. Focus mainly on themselves and generally unaffected by praise or criticism. Rarely show any feelings, no need for attention or acceptance, cold, dull, succeed in being ignored. Slightly more likely to occur in men than women: schizotypal personality disorder: a personality disorder characterized by extreme discomfort in close relationships, odd forms of thinking and perceiving, and behavioral eccentricities.
